First and foremost, I have been blessed with a beautiful and healthy family! I am the wife to a wonderful and supportive husband and the mother to two beautiful girls!
As babies, my girls were born blonde and of course had little to no hair! They were my fair-skin beauties, who remained "baldies" til around the age of 2! I always loved purchasing hair accessories for them so I did not get the confusing comments in the grocery store of - "Ah, what a beautiful boy!". We now have a trillion bows, headbands and clips and they still love being a girly-girl even today!
My love of making their own accessories came along when I was not able to find exactly what I wanted for them, nor could I find the exact colors etc.
Later, based on my husband's love of the sun and water, I then started with the beach hats and sun hats. It is so important to protect their little heads from those harmful UV rays. It is within your first 14-16 years of life that you suffer the most sun damage. All that used to be around was the traditional denim hat made for a boy or a girl. So along came the "girly" sun hats! Why not be fahionable while being safer from the sun?
